No matter where we go adventures seem to follow Linda and me. Yesterday we were simply going to the mall to check out the Chico's store. The Chico's store here in Vegas is very well stocked and the sales are good. After looking around and checking out all the sales we made our purchases. Well I thought I had finished shopping, but I found a vest and a jacket that I really wanted (not needed but wanted for the cruise next month). So I got out my credit card to pay for the 2nd purchase and it was declined. Now this is a credit card with no balance - paid off - do you get what I am saying? The saleslady (whose inlaws live at Lake Norman) called in the card, still declined. So out came the 2nd card and I used it to pay for the purchases. Now you would think that was enough for one day, but no, no. As Linda and I walked out of the store we are stopped by an elderly gentleman. He said that he was a stockholder for Chico's and wanted to ask us some questions. So being the good customers we gave him very positive answers. Enough already - back to the casino.
Bad news here - Tuesday night was all the magic and good luck that I would have. The slots decided that I had won enough, so my daily allowance for the machines was depleted. I will try again before we leave Friday.
Our big event for the day was our trip to the Grand Canyon. We were picked up at our hotel by Sundance Helicopters (in a limo no less), so with 4 other people off we went to the airport. After a wait (which I don't do well) off we went with a couple from Denmark and a couple from Australia, and Brad, our pilot. We crossed over Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, extinct volcanoes, and then we landed deep inside the canyon for a champagne picnic. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking! On our return journey, as the sun was setting, we flew over the fabulous lights of the Las Vegas strip. Another breathtaking view - Now the interesting part - the limo took us and a couple from England back to our hotel. Now remember we are in a limo and the seats are very low to floor. As I tried to get out of the limo I could not stand up far enough (the ceiling is also very low) to straighten my legs out so I could step out of the limo. So basically I rolled out of the limo to be able to stand up on the street. Do you think the driver offered me his hand to help me out? - The answer is NO.......... O yeah, I forgot to mention that I almost fell getting out of the helicopter at the airport. I have short legs and the step down was big. Did the pilot help me? NO......... don't these people realize that I am a little ole lady who is not as agile as she used to be? O well - at least we arrived back at the hotel safe and sound...
PS - I did get the problem with the credit card straighted out; because the card was showing 2 back-to-back purchases at the same store, they were checking for fraud. I guess that is a good thing......
